  • Updated Schedule of Events for Media at the Green Party's 2019 Annual National Meeting in Salem, Massachusetts, July 25 – 28

The Green Rainbow Party of Massachusetts will be hosting the Green Party at its Annual National Meeting July 25-28, 2019 in the beautiful, historic coastal city of Salem, Massachusetts.
The meeting will feature Green Party panels, workshops, meetings of the Green National Committee (not open to the media and public), and other events. Green candidates running in 2019 and 2020 and Green elected officials are expected to attend.

Many of the meeting events are open to the media and general public. A credentialing page for reporters, bloggers, and other members of the media interested in covering the events, including press conferences, is posted online. https://www.gp.org/2019_anm_media_credentials

Media events will include three press conferences with meeting organizers and Green candidates and officeholders, a forum for candidates seeking the Green Party 2020 presidential nomination, and guest speakers. Interviews with candidates, officeholders and some of the guests can also be arranged. Guests will include:

Filmmakers Gualtiero and Jessica Alomar, Colonization is Extinction;

Dr. Toussaint Losier, professor of African-American history, Black politics, and criminal justice policy;

Amy Tyler, Global Greens Executive Secretary;

Dr. Jill Stein, GPUS 2016 and 2012 nominee for president.

Dr. Ajamu Baraka, GPUS 2016 nominee for vice-president. He is currently an associate fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C. and director of Black Alliance for Peace.

Standup comic Lee Camp, head writer and host of the national TV show Redacted Tonight, and co-host of the podcast Common Censored. George Carlin’s daughter Kelly said he’s one of the few comics keeping her father’s torch lit.

Thursday, July 25, 7:30 p.m.
Opening featuring Dr. Toussaint Losier. Dr. Losier is on the faculty at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. His subject areas include African-American History, Black politics, and criminal justice policy.

Friday, July 26, 9 a.m.
Press Conference with Green Party candidates for local and federal offices. (participants TBA)

Press Conference and Campaign Kick-off for David Gibson for U.S. Senate from Maine in 2020. He will be running in the country’s first U.S. Senate race using ranked choice voting.

Film: Colonization is Extinction, Organization for Culture of Hispanic Origins. The film examines the current state of Puerto Rico, its current economic crisis, how colonialism has crippled the island. Film-makers and speakers Gualterio and Jessica Alomar will be present and available for interviews through most of the weekend. Mr. Alomar was recently nominated for the BLFC’s award for Producer-Non Fiction.

Saturday, July 27, 1:00 p.m.
Keynote address presented by human rights scholar and activist Ajamu Baraka, director of Black Alliance for Peace and 2016 GPUS vice-presidential nominee.

Sunday, July 28, 10:45 a.m. - Noon
Election Integrity and Ranked Choice Voting
Panelists: Jill Stein (2012 and 2016 GPUS presidential nominee); James Lane (journalist, activist, and member of GPUS Black Caucus); Kyle Bailey (Maine RCV campaign manager and president/owner of Peachtree Strategies LLC).
