How to ensure that your party is seen as a joke

Apparently afraid that the Green Party might be seen as a real alternative, the NYC residents and adjacents have decided that the perfect candidate for NYC mayor from the Green Party is . . . Reverend Billy. For those not in the know, that's the stage name of Bill Talen and, for those not in the know, "stage name" really doesn't go with serious political candidate.

Rev Billy

Talen is an activist who pretends he's a reverend (despite having no belief in God) and preaches against the evils of consumerism in any high traffic, media area that might provide him with cheap publicity.

He's never held public office and has a non-existent resume.

But various idiots are serving up "Draft Rev. Billy!" posts because, heaven forbid, the Green Party should be seen as a real political party, because, heaven forbid, the party should ever pass up a chance to be laughed at by the rest of the country.

In NYC, where Greens could make a serious showing, they're pushing a joke candidate, someone with no experience, as their candidate. When they want to show up and whine about not being taken seriously, remember they are judged by their own actions.
