Dumb Ass of the Week

The US House Armed Services Committee's Military Personnel Subcommittee met on Wednesday and that's when US House Rep Walter Jones earned the Dumb Ass of the Week Award. The announced topic was "The Future of the Miliary Healthcare System."

Walter Jones missed the memo. Instead, he used his time to whine about how much money in aid that US sent Switzerland in 2005 and to wonder, "Why are we sending money to a country with a surplus when we have a deficit?"

That might or might not be a fair question but it was off topic and due to his follow up claim, he earned the Dumb Ass of the Week Award.

It's a big problem, Jones wanted everyone to know, and one that needs to be fixed.

Heavy sigh.

"But we're in the minority [Republicans] . . . can't do anything about it, maybe my colleagues can."

2005.

Who controlled Congress then?

Walter Jones' party. It was cute the way he tried to shift the blame for a 2005 action over to the Democrats and suggest things would be different in 2008 if only the Republican were in control.
