LUKE CAGE and IRON FIST
TVLINE wants to know if you're blown away by the 'bro hang' on the second season of LUKE CAGE with IRON FIST's Danny made you like Danny better?
I love the pushback in the comments.
The reality is that IRON FIST is the most popular of the Marvel single hero shows. It was the most streamed by far. The critics tended to trash it for a number of reasons that had nothing to do with the show itself.
But NETFLIX subscribers loved it.
That's the real reason for the 'bro hang' (that and Powerman and Iron Fist being a team in the comics). LUKE CAGE did not pull in big numbers. It's the lowest of all of them (JESSICA JONES, DAREDEVIL and IRON FIST).
Why?
My guess is that it's the furthest from comic book land. It's a little too mature for some comic book fans.
IRON FIST, by contrast, had all the comic book elements we grew up -- as a child our hero loses his parents. He is trained and even battles a dragon to get mystical powers. We're in the land of DC here (not meant as an insult). It was the fantasy land we responded to as kids with our first super hero comics.
Add in the martial arts and it was really something.
LUKE CAGE got stuck in too much gritty for some comic book fans (I love LUKE CAGE, by the way).
I think it's really time to team Luke and Danny for the obvious POWERMAN AND IRON FIST series.
By the way, the worst MARVEL show NETFLIX has done? THE PUNISHER. Pure garbage.
Going out with C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
