The Center for Biological Diversity and
others have launched notice of lawsuits aimed at the openly
self-enriching conflicts of interest in having a billionaire with
massive government contracts now in charge of oversight of all those
contracts. In stark terms, Musk’s industries that have proven again and
again to be bad actors in environmental pollution and yet now
increasingly control the regulators. Conflict of interest red flags
should be all over the field.
· When, some two weeks ago, Musk gave his infamous Nazi salute, the reactions were swift and categorical. Author Rivera Sun, for example, said, “Take that Nazi salute seriously. Last time, 70 million people died.” She called for nonviolent people power in the streets.
· Some of the lawsuits assert that Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency is itself illegal under various laws such as the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
Among President Donald Trump's slew of immigration-related executive orders signed in his first week is mention of an 80-year law that went largely unnoticed.
In seeking to tighten border security, Trump invoked a rule requiring immigrants to carry identification proving their status — something civil-rights groups who spoke to Newsweek say is all but certain to end up with American citizens being detained by police.
"The act itself is called the (ARA), and so it's easy to think on the face of it: 'Well, this is not a concern for a U.S. citizen, I'm not a non-citizen, I was born here, or I naturalized here, so this doesn't affect me at all'," Anthony Enriquez, vice president of U.S. advocacy and human rights at RFK Human Rights, told Newsweek.
"In fact, that's not the real question. The real question is, well, are police going to believe that you actually are a U.S. citizen when they stop you and they say: 'where's your document?'"
Immigration and deportation are key topics in this week's Tennessee legislative session, and a local nonprofit group is helping residents prepare for possible deportation.
Nationwide, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reports more than 900 arrests since the Trump administration has started following through on its promise of a "mass deportation."
Luis Mata, a communications officer for the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition, called for immigration reform while criticizing President Donald Trump's immigration executive order that expands detention. He added that they are helping Tennessee's 400,000 immigrants prepare, not panic.
"Communities across the state are prepared to protect ourselves and our families," he said, "and we're doing that through continuing to build our robust network of organizations, community leaders, community members, who are ready to step up and make sure that we all have what we need to build the good life and to live up to Tennessee values."
Gov. Bill Lee has proposed strengthening immigration enforcement across Tennessee by creating a new division within the Department of Safety, supporting local law enforcement participation in federal programs and considering state-issued IDs.
Mata argued that mass deportation would lead to labor shortages and hurt businesses already struggling to build a reliable workforce.
The mood of residents in migrant neighborhoods on the outskirts of Chicago as a result of the Trump administration’s offensive against illegal immigration ranges from fear to dismay to paralyzing panic. In Hermosa, where the population is predominantly Hispanic, there is not a soul on the streets, not a single pedestrian — those new pariahs of civilization who lack a car in a country built for the automobile. Equally empty are the bus stop shelters, the few existing public parks, with their grass worn and scorched by the snow, and the local businesses: the taquerias and pupuserias where you can see right through the deserted storefront windows.
Maria, a Mexican woman without legal papers despite having lived in the United States for 30 years, confesses that she goes grocery shopping and to the laundromat very early in the morning, and that for the past week she has avoided shopping malls and “places with large crowds, because the ICE agents [the acronym for Immigration and Customs Enforcement] focus on those places.” Each ICE precinct, 25 across the country, has been ordered to make at least 75 arrests a day. Trump’s first week in the White House has resulted in more than 3,500 arrests, of which 1,179 were made in 24 hours.

Maria says that ever since Trump’s election victory, neighborhood networks have been buzzing with information about searches at this or that house, advice on how to avoid an encounter, or the suspicious presence of cars in the neighborhood, “because in some places the agents don’t come in marked vans, but in small, discreet black cars,” she says. That explains the advice that if someone asks for directions from the back of a dark vehicle at dusk, you should walk away quickly. The few migrants who do venture out onto the streets do so by way of back roads and alleys.
Two blocks away from where Maria lives, Pastor Marvin del Rios of Starting Point Baptist Church says he would have no choice but to obey the law if one day an ICE patrol showed up at his church looking for a suspect. “But only with a court order, and with the explicit name of the person they are looking for. I am not going to allow a general random search, much less let them through if they show up without a warrant he says.
Pastor Del Ríos’ church, which offers bilingual services and a specific one for migrants, is also a shelter now holding 17 people, all men. It is one of the shelters that relieved the pressure from the city government when migrants from the border began arriving in Chicago, a sanctuary city governed by Democrats, in the spring of 2022. “In 18 months, about 70 have passed through here, and now 17 of them with various backgrounds and ages are living with us.”
THE HILL runs a dumb column by idiot podcaster Derelick Hunter who wants you to believe his lie that the US is not a country of immigrants. We believe the only ones who came make that claim, Derelick, are the Native Americans. Everyone else here is an immigrant. See, this is why the MAGA nuts like Derelick want to erase history. What's taking place is horrific. And it is a stain on the human condition. There are not outrageous statements or claims. They go the heart of any real education. They are natural outcomes.
Yes, Chump has tremendous power right now. But the people rule in a democracy. And we're still a democracy for now. Cowards like Chump run and we can see to it that Fat Boy's on the run.
In the meantime, we can just call out him and his lying minions like Derelick who wants to pretend that the Native Americans don't predate everyone else on US soil today.
A group of Democratic lawmakers is demanding immediate action to halt what they describe as "unconscionable" harassment of Native American citizens by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
On Wednesday morning, nine congressional Democrats sent a letter seen by Newsweek to President Donald Trump urging him to direct ICE agents to "stop harassing" Native Americans.
The letter detailed an incident in New Mexico in which an ICE agent reportedly stopped a Tribal citizen at a convenience store and questioned their U.S. citizenship.
Navajo Nation officials told CNN that federal immigration enforcement operations had stopped, questioned or detained at least 15 Indigenous individuals in Arizona and New Mexico during immigration raids that began last week.
Of course they have. They're led by Chump and cheered on by the Derelicks. They don't know history. They don't know anything. We need to drive that home. Native Americans are just one more group to target for the MAGA bullies, one more group to lie about, one more group to destroy.
If you step back and take a breath and look around, what you see is that MAGA is targeting all of us. We outnumber them. Yes, we were betrayed on the left by loser like Jill Stein and backstabbers like Rashida Tlaib. That let Chump squeak back in -- as did the voter purges that Greg Palast has yet again documented. But we outnumber them. And we will be out in larger numbers next time. Because we'll be smarter and because we won't watch blindly as Amy Goodman brings on one Socialist after another while passing them off as Democrats and letting them attack whomever the Democratic Party candidate is. It's the same con game FOX "NEWS" plays and people are onto Amy. One of her groupies that wanted to argue on BLUESKY actually did the work required and sent a note acknowledging she was completely tricked by Amy. Of course she was. In most areas of the left, whenever you find a single White person who did it all his or herself, you find a liar. Salim Muwakkil is only one of the many Black men Goodywhore disappears to make herself look so grand and wonderful.
We are wise to them and we will only grow wiser. Black people were on to Amy in real time.
We will not let the tricksters fool us again.
In the meantime, in the right now, those of us who can speak out have got to speak out. And we say that knowing that a lot of people aren't as fortunate as we are. Very little can be done to us. But a lot of people can push back and that's what those of us lucky enough to be in that situation should do. (Remember earlier qualifier.)
If you cover media long enough, you'll note that
something's just don't make sense. Take WILL & GRACE. Season one
episode eleven "Will On Ice" (written by Michael Patrick King) finds
Will, Grace, Jack and Karen at Champions on Ice to celebrate Will's
birthday. Season seven episode five "Key Party" (written by Sonja
Warfield) find Will upset that on his birthday everyone is celebrating
Karen's late husband's birthday instead -- they have the same birthday.
Or take FAMILY GUY, Brian's got a tracking chip. Remember? It's how
Joe locates Brian and Bonnie in season 14 episode 16 "The Heartbreak
Dog" (written by Lew Morton). Brian realizes that chip is why Brian
always wins at hide and seek. Then in season 22 episode 15 "Faith No
More" (written by Alex Carter), Brian ends up at the pound and is
taken to his original family that put a tracking chip in him before he
knew the Griffins. At least with Karen, in the latter episode, she
notes that she's never celebrated Stan's birthday when he was alive and
she has a long pattern of going place with Jack, Will and Grace (or any
combo of the three -- sometimes plus Rosario) to avoid holiday
celebrations and family events with Stan.
But to cover media is always to scratch your head.
On
THE VANGUARD, Zac and Gavin attempt to cover media. It's a
learn-as-you-go skill. That might explain why it took them so long to
catch on to Bri-Bri Joy Gray (at one point, they even called out Kyle
Kulinski to defend Bri-Bri). Our question is: Why have they still not
caught on to BREAKING POINTS?
BREAKING POINTS started after Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti were kicked out of their hosting jobs on THE HILL's RISING.
They
falsely bill their program as a "news program." It is not. And that
goes to the stupidity of the 21st century -- a century that saw Donald
Chump elected not once but twice.
What BP aspires to be is a "public affairs program."
What
we've long dubbed the chat & chew. That's not a news program.
News programs feature actual reporting and do that every day.
Interviews and bickering? That's public affairs programming.
That's what it aspires to. What it actually is?
The garbage programming that Jon Stewart rightly decried when he went on CNN's CROSSFIRE.
That useless program was bickering and squabbling by someone a little left of center and someone very right of center.
It's cheap programming. By "cheap," we mean inexpensive but, yes, it's tacky as well.
And
it's only become tackier with the addition of two more faux hosts Ryan
Grim and Emily Jashinsky. Ryan's supposedly a journalist -- as Aretha
once sang, "But you can't prove that by me." On the show, he plays like
he's left but Glenneth Greenwald's butt boy is anything but left.
Emily's a raving lunatic from the right. Like Saaeger.
THE
VANGUARD BOYS feel the need to do a segment on Krystal whenever she
gets the better of Saaeger -- which may tip you off to just how insipid
Krystal truly is.
She's a
fake ass kind of gal. Pretending to be Democrat when she's not. She's
married to Socialist Kyle Kulinski who formed Justice Democrats
seemingly years ago with THE YOUNG TURKS' Cenk Uygur. Justice Democrats
was a Socialist plan to take over the Democratic Party from within.
Like every previous attempt -- it generally happens twice each decade --
the plan was an utter failure. When Socialists burn up in flames, they
generally show their true nature. Kyle appears to be caring and kind;
while Cenk's moved over to the rightwing (just like his predecessors
who, when they couldn't take over the Democratic Party, became neocons
and grifter over to the right-wing).
We
don't promote Kyle anymore at any websites because he's a grown man who
is a Socialist but can't bring himself to step out of the political
closet. We like Kyle. But our position is NO POLITICAL CLOSETS.
That's
because of how non-Democrats like Amy Goodman worked to tank Kamala
Harris' presidential campaign* and tricked and fooled audiences who
thought they were hearing Democratic criticism of Kamala when, in fact,
Amy's guests were radical leftists allowed to hide in a political closet
while pretending to be Democrats. Stepping out of those closets would
have cost them credibility. So they hide in them.
Krystal is not just an on-air for BREAKING POINTS. She created the program with Saager and she is co-owner.
Which means, pay attention VANGUARD boys, she has to own the blame for the damage her program does.
And BREAKING POINTS does so much damage.
There's the pretense that Saagar has a valid opinion, for example.
Yes, there are those rare moments when Krystal calls Saagar out -- reminiscent of those rare times when Mika Brzezinski called out Joe
Scarborough on MORNING JOE. And, pause a moment here, grasp that's
what 'feminist' Krystal created. She could have created anything.
Instead, she went to the wife role for a public affairs program. That's
how sad she truly is. She chose to cast herself as helpmate on the TV
program she started, not as co-host.
But mainly, Krystal just does Danny-Kaye-like nonsense faces to the camera.
So
that's how we got, for example, Saagar's screed against gay men when
Monkeypox was in the news (August 2022). And that's how we got Krystal grinning
beside him like a silly ninny as he offered some of the most homophobic
remarks and recommendations since the AIDS crisis emerged in the
1980s.
Now don't mistake the show for something that merely promotes homophobia. It does so much more.
As THE MAJORITY REPORT's REDDIT page observed two years ago, "Every
left-leaning person that works for breaking points or rising slowly
ends up moving right. They work with actual fascists and believe that
comprising with them is the only way to 'get things done.' Was really
disappointed to see Jessica Burbank become another contributor recently
because they ALL end up on this path."

And we won't highlight BREAKING POINTS. We'll highlight Kyle because he does some interesting segments and has a brain.
But BREAKING POINTS? Community wide we now boycott it.
June
is Pride Month. A detail James Li wanted to remind us of on Sunday as
he queued up his segment. So he wanted to cover an LGBTQ issue, he
said. (He did not add "plus.")
That could be good.
BREAKING POINTS ignored Pride all month -- and the LGBTQ+ community,
except for one segment on the recorded homophobic remarks of Martha
Alito. So, yeah, they were kind of overdue and then some.
But James Li had a funny way of covering it. He brought on Heidi Briones.
Who? Exactly. But let's help you out, here's how the transphobe describes herself online:
My name is Heidi Briones, and I consider myself a progressive for most of my adult life.
I
changed my views after running for office in 2020 and experienced how
the left came after me for my views on COVID and other issues that I saw
as authoritarian overreach.
Since then I've
naturally leaned towards libertarianism as I feel it's crucial to fight
authoritarianism on all sides of the aisle.
She's
naturally leaned towards the Libertarian Party . . . except when
attacking the openly gay Chase Oliver whom lesbian Heidi loathes and has
noted she will not be voting for him.
Yes, Heidi is a
lesbian. A long closeted lesbian though she frequently lies in
interviews in the last two years about this fact and claims she's been
out since the 90s. She wasn't out in college. That was three phone
calls -- not at her community college and not when she went onto Santa
Cruz.
Let's pause for college just a moment.
Heidi is a deeply stupid woman. For example, "I have a degree in
politics." She said that in the April 6, 2020 interview she gave to
Young Republicans for Oregon. It's political science -- yes, when she
transferred from her community college she went to The University of
California at Santa Cruz, she was on a campus that termed it that;
however, around the country it's political science. She's really not a
bright person. Or maybe she's just a liar on everything. After all,
the point we're making about political science? She made it herself in a
2020 interview with Matt Skidmore. She was really ugly in that
interview, by the way, physically repulsive and there's a reason to note
that and we'll get to it but let's stay on college. She likes to say
she was an English major in grad school but the degree is actually
"Teaching English as a Second Language" -- as she notes it on her
professional resume -- curiously, she doesn't note her two years of
community college on her professional resume. About that resume, she
claims in interviews to have a PhD in "applied holistics" yet somehow
hasn't managed to include that on her resume either (or, for that
matter, on her filing paperwork when she ran in the primary -- despite
listing her other degrees).
She ran for the Democratic
Party's Congressional seat in Oregon's first district. No surprise that
she didn't bother to note that she was a lesbian, that she was married
on the voters survey she completed and she didn't bother to note any
LGBTQ+ issues either.
Let's underscore that, the idiot
James Li brought her on to talk about LGBTQ+ for Pride month but she had
no pride when she was running for office in 2020. Had nothing to say
on the issue. Watch her 2020 interviews and notice how she doesn't
disclose she's a lesbian. The exception is the hour-and-a-half
interview with Matt Skidmore where she lets slip she was a lesbian for
the Yang Gang. And that she has a wife. A half-sentence. We had to
hear tons about her worship of Elon Musk, for example, or about her
first job (working for a relative -- on her official resume she leaves
out that it was for a relative). That interview is the exception and
it's over in 15 seconds. There's her 2020 interview with Will Stern,
while she has time to praise Elon Musk yet again (he's what led her to
Andrew Yang), she doesn't mention a wife. Kind of strange isn't it. a
candidate for office who is married and never mentions their spouse.
Suzanne Bonamici -- the candidate who won the primary that Heidi lost --
didn't hide her spouse.
By the way, we especially loved her 2020 FACEBOOK interview. Not for
her dog face boy look but for the fact that she was on for four live
minutes and never knew it and said nothing of consequence because she's
honestly that stupid. "I need to go on FACEBOOK and see if I see my
face" and "It's not working" when, in fact, for four minutes it worked
and she came off like a buffoon.
She did a 2020
nine-minute-plus interview with The League of Women Voters and never
noted that she had a wife, that she was a lesbian or addressed any
LGBTQ+ issues.
And this is who James Li thinks is
needed for his sole LGBTQ+ content for the month of June (and, if you're
kind, BREAKING POINTS' second piece of LGBTQ+ content for the month of
June).
Wait though. It gets worse. So, so much worse.
Before James Li decided to platform Heidi, she was already on record referring to Dylan Mulvaney as "it."
That's
when FOX "NEWS" first started noting the grifter. Quite a step up for a
candidate that got 8,000 voters. And she was a candidate for
Congress. No, Heidi was running in a primary and the winner of the
primary would be the candidate for Congress. Stop inflating her meager
resume that includes 'legislative assistant' (intern) because she worked
for her aunt who held public office.
She has a long,
long history of expressing hatred towards transpeople. She made her
feeling perfectly clear in a March appearance on transphobic Kim
Iversen's program. And, like the idiot Iversen, it's all "Commies" to
Heidi. Who the f**k let this ugly bitch out of the kennel, by the way?
Again,
though, it's not just trans people that they lie about and hate. They
hate all the letters in LGBTQ+ which is how you got the segment seven
months ago entitled "TRUTH Behind "LGBTQ" Book Bans ."
Truth?
Lies. Lies from Emily and Saagar.
Two nut jobs on the right got to lie and spew.
When
Robert Kennedy Junior lies and spews about medicine, we're outraged and
point out that he doesn't what the hell he's talking about and has no
training in the field.

about that. Are you transphobes? Then why are you following human

Trina: Yes. Early on Kevin's talking about how he's married now and explaining their lives as a couple and I was enjoying reading that when I stopped myself and took a breath and said it might not live up to the opening and that was okay. But it did live up to the opening and it's a great book.
Filled with recipes?
Trina: Yes. The focus here is more on a dinner, a meal, if you had company over. They're easy to follow recipes.
Any improvements from the authors' last book?
Trina: I'd say the illustrations are stronger. I did get the KINDLE VERSION, by the way, and it was $6.99 so it's available at a great price.

Jim, Dona, Jess, Ty, "Ava" started out this site as five students enrolled in journalism in NY. Now? We're still students. We're in CA. Journalism? The majority scoffs at the notion.
From the start, at the very start, C.I. of The Common Ills has helped with the writing here. C.I.'s part of our core six/gang. (C.I. and Ava write the TV commentaries by themselves.) So that's the six of us. We also credit Dallas as our link locator, soundboard and much more.
