SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA -- A new video released today by the California-based Courage Campaign and Sacramento Collective for Women’s Rights exposes Kevin Johnson’s history of alleged sexual assault and harassment of underage girls and women and calls for his immediate resignation as Mayor of Sacramento. Courage Campaign will promote the video with paid ads on Facebook and YouTube targeting Sacramento parents and voters.

“Enough is enough. Allegations of child sexual abuse and harassment have followed Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson for years -- from being accused of inappropriate sexual contact with at least three young students and volunteers at his charter school, St. HOPE, to allegedly sexually harassing and groping a female subordinate staffer and a city employee,” explained Laura Leavitt, Campaign Manager of Courage Campaign. “The newly surfaced police video and audio recordings of one of the young survivors of his alleged sexual abuse -- who was 16 years old at the time of the recordings and alleged abuse -- is the final straw. She testifies to police and confronts Kevin Johnson, describing how Johnson molested and sexually abused her, and made her ‘pinky promise’ that she wouldn’t tell anyone.”
“These alleged crimes have never impacted Johnson's rise to Sacramento mayor because, as has been publicly recorded, he made legal settlements that forced the survivors of his alleged abuse into silence. But his money and fame can't protect him anymore. Mayor Johnson has already announced that he will not seek re-election, but that's not good enough. He does not deserve to represent the people of Sacramento for one more day. He must go now! The evidence is clear. We hope that our video will help further expose the truth behind these allegations and force Mayor Johnson to resign,” added Leavitt.
