We hadn't planned to do The Bronze Boobs this week but reader Marcy e-mailed to note "Pig Horton is at it again." Yes, Marcy, he is.
2008 was a year of non-stop sexism and it takes a real idiot to serve up "Glinda Arrives at State" but Scott Horton did just that, indicating he should CEASE blogging at Harper's immediately. "Glinda" is the character in The Wizard of Oz and Scott Horton is saying that's Hillary while Condi Rice is "the Wicked Witch of the West." Horton would argue that a nimrod friend of his had called Hillary "Glinda" -- as if that excuses it or justifies his supplying "Wicked Witch of the West" for Condi.
After the non-stop sexism in 2008, it takes a lot of STUPIDITY for anyone to start calling women WITCHES. It's sexism, it's rank and it shouldn't happen.
It especially shouldn't happen at Harper's which is nothing but a bunch of tired, old men cock-knocking over and over repeatedly. If you want a real shocker, look at the masthead and notice how few women are on it. Harper's has serious problems with sexism. If they think calling Hillary a "good" witch makes up for that garbage the John MacArthur published not so long ago, they are mistaken.
Calling women witches reveals the deep distrust and hatred of women. And, as anyone with half-a-brain knows, a "good" witch is only minutes and a heartbreak away from becoming a "bad" one.
It never should have been posted to the mag's website.
As Marcy points out, another needs to earn a Bronze Boob: Supposed feminist site, Tennessee Guerilla Women which found Scott Horton's sexism so 'wonderful' they added it to an entry celebrating Hillary. "It's sexism and it's offensive," writes Marcy, "and Tennessee Guerrilla Women needs to buy a clue." Exactly.
Treasure your Bronze Boobies, molded after the ones of your sacred leader, you've both earned them and then some.
