Highlights

This piece is written by Rebecca of Sex and Politics and Screeds and Attitude, Cedric of Cedric's Big Mix, Kat of Kat's Korner, Betty of Thomas Friedman is a Great Man, Mike of Mikey Likes It!, Elaine of Like Maria Said Paz, Ruth of Ruth's Report, Marcia of SICKOFITRADLZ, Stan of Oh Boy It Never Ends and Wally of The Daily Jot. Unless otherwise noted, we picked all highlights.

"Thinning out the herd (2008)," "2008 in music," "2008: The Year of Living Hormonally (Year in Review)," "2008 in books (Martha & Shirley)," "Ruth's 2008 Public Radio Report" "Editorial: Democracy or fan club?," "TV: 2008, the lows and really lows," "The 2008 Bronze Boobies," "Best and worst in hardcover music journalism," "Music 2009" and "2009 in DVDs" -- Year in reviews. That's Betty, Kat, C.I., Martha & Shirley, Ruth and Third. And "Year-end thoughts" by Ruth again and we're setting it by itself so that it gets noticed.

Most requested highlight by readers of this site was C.I.'s year-in-review. Second most requested? The Friday "Iraq snapshot" which Ty says Yazz dubbed "wickedly funny."

"Green Beans and Tomatoes Casserole in the Kitchen" -- Trina offers an economical recipe and addresses the year and the slaughter.

"additional thoughts" & "the truth versus the whoring liar" -- Rebecca's bookends. And for those not around in 2006, she takes this issue very personally. It's is probably her key non-domestic issue.

"Michael Winship and Bill Moyers stumble upon the truth" -- Stan's Friday night movie post but you get a lot more with this one.

"Gaza, Janis Ian, more" -- Kat advocated for this post by Mike because she loves his description of Janis Ian's song.

"THIS JUST IN! THE UNITY TRAIN KEEPS ROLLING" & "Unity train keeps on rolling . . ." -- Wally & Cedric's joint-post and this one surprised us when we read it. We generally now have enough of handle on them that we know where they're headed but this one shocked us. By the way, in case it's not noted anywhere else, Wally is off crutches after his skiing accident. And he's back in California at C.I.'s and swearing never, ever to go skiing again unless it is on water.

Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "Princess Brat Speaks" -- Isaiah's latest on Caroline Kennedy, the princess. And, no, it's not sexist, f**king idiots. Here's Caroline BFF speaking to The New York Times about her last week, "That comes from her lineage." Get it, Dumb Asses? She's American 'royalty' and has always been billed that way. She's also the whoring funeral crasher who invaded Lisa Marie Presley's space at her father's funeral and then took her trashy article about Elvis' funeral all over New York until her then steady boyfriend Jann (married, but gay) agreed to publish it in Rolling Stone, requiring Harriet to do an intensive line-by-line edit to make it readable. She's a Princess according to the media. She's a whore for wanting her own privacy but invading Lisa Marie's privacy (with the lie that she was there on behalf of her family to pay respects).

"Congratulations, Senator Burris." "Don't disrespect Roland Burris," "Don't start nothing, there won't be nothing," "Back off Barack," "Roland Burris is the Senator," "C Kennedy, Roland Burris, pardons" and "Crying Junior" & "THIS JUST IN! JUNIOR'S TURN TO CRY!" -- some of the Roland Burris coverage in the community and we tossed in Wally and Cedric on the whiner who didn't get the appointment (JJ Jnr.).

"Winter, ugh" -- Everyone's trying to figure out if Betty's taking the promotion. Says Betty, "I've had more e-mails on that than on what was going to happen to Betinna. Suddenly, everyone's my dad." (Her father wants her to take it, her mother says it's Betty's decision.)

"Caroline, Ted, etc" -- Trina explains how Caroline could slide in to the US Senate.

"Matthew Rothschild is really, really sick" -- Ruth's Monday post was so popular it was recylced Saturday at the site that wrote her bragging how much they loved her and asking her to write them back. The one that when she did, blew her off. The one that was on a fishing expedition. Yeah, you know who we mean. Big Penny.

"NYT finds out that smutty may come witha price" -- Kat on the latest bad news for The New York Times.

"Isaiah, Michelle Shocked and more" -- Stan covers music in this post.

"Caroline and Melissa" -- Elaine covers the two fools.
