These are the highlights of what we think you shouldn't have missed last week. We are Kat, Rebecca, Wally, Cedric, Betty, Elaine and Mike.
"Ruth's Report" -- Ruth's latest and it went up Saturday night. Rebecca called her because we knew Ruth was planning on addressing Ehren Watada and wanted to be sure we weren't going to cover something here that she was planning to grab if she was going to post on Sunday. She said she'd done a lot of thinking about some of the other posts in the community and could get something up quickly. Almost an hour later, she called Rebecca back to say, "It's up." She hates it and would change "disappointment" to "tragic" in the opening paragraph but we love it. We think you will too.
"Egg Drop Soup in the Kitchen" -- Trina's latest with a recipe most of us have already sampled (Mike grew up with it, but the rest of us toyed with it on Saturday) and, as usual, some strong commentary from Trina. You don't want to miss it.
"'The First Factually Challenged Fool" -- Betty's latest chapter in the online novel of Betinna. Betinna's realized that Thomas Friedman (and Nicky K) kidnapped her in New Jersey. She remembers it now and knows she wasn't 'rescued' from a 'backwater village' as Thomas Friedman had long told her. Things are getting ugly and there's more in store. Don't miss the chapter.
"Lizzie West, students, Iraq, etc." -- Kat says she prefers short posts and then, on a night when she's exhausted, she ends up writing an epic. Don't miss this.
"THIS JUST IN! BULLY BOY STARTS 2007 WITH LOTS OF LAUGHS!" & "Bully Boy the cut up and those who prop him up" -- Wally and Cedric's joint-post noting how useless the media is willing to make itself.
"nora barrows-friedman interviewed dahr jamail on flashpoints" -- Rebecca gives an overview of an interview you shouldn't have missed.
"Snooping, Monica Benderman, Jane Fonda, Iraq " -- Mike covers a lot of topics and then some -- a book, Iraq, peace, a movie, you name it.
"Carly Simon, Matthew Rothschild, Jorge Mariscal, Iraq" -- Elaine discussing friendship, Iraq, music and much more.
"What the reaction (press) to the 3,000 mark means" -- Elaine calling it like she sees it and we think she's got two posts worth noting from last week. (At least two!, says Mike.)
"And the war drags on . . ." -- of course C.I. has many entries worth noting but this was our favorite of the week.
"The comics: Nouri al-Maliki, Amy Goodman, Deb Riechmann" & "THIS JUST IN! GET YOUR 2007 YA-YAS!" -- if Cedric and Wally didn't keep us laughing at the media, we'd cry from depression!
"2006: The Year of Living Dumbly (Year in Review)" -- this was a Dallas pick. He does the links and the roundtable is too long. It's not being edited but when it gets too long, it's very hard to go through and add links. The page scrolls down very slowly. Dallas noted that Cedric mentioned this in the roundtable but that he was losing patience on adding the links and wasn't able to include it. We told him we'd note it. C.I. wrote this two weeks ago and if you've missed it, it is your loss. Don't continue to miss it. You'll laugh, you'll be enraged, you'll be engaged.
