Uh, ever heard of Jennifer Beals

From SICKOFITRADLZ:

Uh, ever heard of Jennifer Beals

Hmm?

The story of Amanda America Dickson is so ready for the big screen. She was born in 1849 the daughter of a slave and slave owner. She was raised by her white grandmother and became one of the wealthiest women in Georgia after her father died and she inherited his estate.
Amanda America Dickson

And, even sorrier to break it to you, it's been made.

Guess Bea's never heard of Jennifer Beals.

Again, Bea, it's already been made.  Maybe next time, you can get the word out on it instead of being ignorant of its existence?

Important stories have been ignored by history.  When they are finally recognized there's no reason to render them invisible.

Barack only talks for money

From LIKE MARIA SAID PAZ:

Barack only talks for money

Barack is so full of it.  He wants people to know that they needed to vote in the mid-term.  So what better way to get the word out?

“To a large degree, we are seeing a competition between two stories,” the former president told about 200 people at a high-dollar fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee in Beverly Hills.

“There’s the story that is based largely on fear, and there is a story based largely in hope. There’s the story that says we’re in it together, and there’s the story that says there’s an us and a them,” Obama told DNC Chairman Tom Perez during a conversation at the event. Reporters were allowed in to listen to the 48-minute discussion. The rest of the event was closed to the press.

Barack.  He meets with big donors and talks about what needs to happen.
He was never ‘of the people.’  He proves it every day.  C.I. and I met him when he was running for the US Senate.  What a huge disappointment that was.  He was supposed to be anti-war and everyone was telling us about the ‘great’ speech he gave against the Iraq War.  So we showed up with our checkbooks intending to write huge checks.  Instead, he says that the US is already in Iraq so it doesn’t matter anymore.  I’m dumb founded.  C.I., of course, isn’t and she just gets right to the point asking if he’s saying that it doesn’t matter now which is what he’s saying.  So we tell him what a disappointment he is and leave, no check written.

But that’s Barack.  He’ll only speak to those of us able to write big checks.  He was that way before he got into the Senate and he’s that way today.  I believe the term is “money grubber.”

"Iraq snapshot" (THE COMMON ILLS):

Reason to be Green

From ANN'S MEGA DUB:

 Reason to be Green

Hypocrisy of Waters and the Congressional Black Caucus is incredible. We couldn't get them to make one comment in opposition when Obama and Clinton gave the greenlight to the coup in Honduras that sent people heading to the U.S. border. They are not to be taken seriously.

And that's why we're Greens.

The Democratic Party -- or some elements of it -- don't seem to grasp that we are out here.

We will not be co-opted.

Don't run a War Hawk corporatist like Hillary and then whine that we voted for our own party's candidate because we don't owe you anything.

This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"

LUKE CAGE and IRON FIST

From OH BOY IT NEVER ENDS:

 LUKE CAGE and IRON FIST

TVLINE wants to know if you're blown away by the 'bro hang' on the second season of LUKE CAGE with IRON FIST's Danny made you like Danny better?

I love the pushback in the comments.

The reality is that IRON FIST is the most popular of the Marvel single hero shows.  It was the most streamed by far.  The critics tended to trash it for a number of reasons that had nothing to do with the show itself.

But NETFLIX subscribers loved it.

That's the real reason for the 'bro hang' (that and Powerman and Iron Fist being  a team in the comics).  LUKE CAGE did not pull in big numbers.  It's the lowest of all of them (JESSICA JONES, DAREDEVIL and IRON FIST).

Why?

My guess is that it's the furthest from comic book land.  It's a little too mature for some comic book fans.

IRON FIST, by contrast, had all the comic book elements we grew up -- as a child our hero loses his parents.  He is trained and even battles a dragon to get mystical powers.  We're in the land of DC here (not meant as an insult).  It was the fantasy land we responded to as kids with our first super hero comics.

Add in the martial arts and it was really something.

LUKE CAGE got stuck in too much gritty for some comic book fans (I love LUKE CAGE, by the way).

I think it's really time to team Luke and Danny for the obvious POWERMAN AND IRON FIST series.

By the way, the worst MARVEL show NETFLIX has done?  THE PUNISHER.  Pure garbage.

Going out with C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
