Sidney Powell, a former attorney for President Donald Trump, is back in the news with a prediction that Donald Trump could be”reinstated” as president. It is a mystery to me how Powell believes that Trump could be “resinstated” but the Constitution is clear: Joe Biden is our president and will remain so absent his death, incapacity, or his removal through impeachment.
Powell made her statement at a conference in Dallas that has been described as a QAnon gathering. She stated that Trump “can simply be reinstated.” She explained “A new inauguration date is set, and Biden is told to move out of the White House, and President Trump should be moved back in. I’m sure there’s not going to be credit for time lost, unfortunately, because the Constitution itself sets the date for inauguration, but he should definitely get the remainder of his term and make the best of it.”
Turley goes on to state that Biden would have to be impeached to be removed from office and that would mean Kamala Harris would become president and if she were impeached then her vice president would become president . . .
And while that is correct, the most obvious point is not made.
The electoral college decides. And they have decided. Once they voted, it was over. It could be proven tomorrow that Donald Trump had 82 million votes that were shoved to the side in Illinois and only just discovered today. Wouldn't matter. The electoral college voted already. Joe is president. When the electoral college voted, the election was over. There is no appeal to the electoral college. There is no provision for overthrowing the results of the electoral college.
Even if 90 zillion votes for Donald Trump turned up tomorrow and it was demonstrated that Joe had personally stolen them and hidden them in Hunter's crack pipe?
Donald still wouldn't be president. Congress would probably impeach Joe at that point due to the crime of theft and/or handling a crack pipe, but that wouldn't make Donald president.
There are no do overs.
For those who can't seem to let it go and move on? We'd advise you, please, find a way. Otherwise? You're going to look as pathetic as those idiots that couldn't accept Hillary Clinton lost in 2016.
