And what did we come up with?
Our worst edition ever!
Ava and C.I. fans, don't worry, they delivered.
We tried to.
I (Jim) think we have a powerful roundtalbe.
It's going to be in pieces in the community newsletters.
We spent forever on it and then forever typing it.
Then concerns were raised, for example, that X had finally addressed Iraq -- did so poorly, but still -- and we were about to call him out because he savaged Hillary and said nothing about Barack -- even though Hillary is not president and left the administration at the start of 2013.
My feeling was savage the bastard.
I wasn't alone.
But some felt we should give it another week.
Whatever.
At which point, I pulled the Gaza piece because maybe we should wait a week there too?
Yeah, loud voices, lots of arguing and Ava and C.I. pulled their piece on Gotham -- that they hated -- and went off to write a new piece on a stronger topic.
I'm not in the mood to applaud a lot of people, most of whom can't call out Barack -- Jerry Scahill, we mean crap like you. So there's one truest.
I like our editorial. It captures the anger some of us feel.
Ava and C.I. have been calling it "The Good Wig" for about 9 days now. So when they pulled Gotham to write something stronger, I had a pretty good idea they'd be taking on The Good Wife. This is our best piece this edition. But it would be a good piece any edition.
With Gaza and the roundtable pulled, we quickly settled on lists. As Madonna once said ("Vogue"), Bette Davis, we love you.
We actually argued -- in a constructive manner -- more over this list than over the actress list.
Marcia brought this to the edition.
At least we listened to some good -- and varied -- music.
Repost of Socialist Worker.
A look at the week's best.
Peace.
