Highlights

This piece is written by Rebecca of Sex and Politics and Screeds and Attitude, Cedric of Cedric's Big Mix, Kat of Kat's Korner, Betty of Thomas Friedman is a Great Man, Mike of Mikey Likes It!, Elaine of Like Maria Said Paz and Wally of The Daily Jot. Unless otherwise noted, we picked all highlights.

"Red Rosemary Potatoes in the Kitchen" -- Trina called this her "back to basics" post and she meant that because it's a basic recipe and because she's discussing Ehren Watada.

"The Office Visit" -- Kyle was very offended that his favorite of all the chapters did not receive a link from Wally and Cedric Saturday. Wally and Cedric say it was an oversight. Cedric: "Betty's usually going up around the time we're writing on Saturday morning. We grab all the links first and then write our joint-post. With Betty, we generally remember, after we've written our joint-post, to go back. We were very tired Saturday morning and still half-asleep. Mike posts C.I.'s entries at The Common Ills each Saturday because C.I. writes them a few hours before they go up and then C.I., Ava and Kat are on the plane back home. Mike has to wait around for us to post before he can post because C.I. always notes the 'Since Friday morning, the following sites . . .' to give us all a link. It was an oversight and we'll include a link to Betty on Monday morning." Though not mentioned in the e-mail, Elaine says, "I could and should link to Betty and Trina each week. I am usually rushing to get my Monday post done and telling myself that I'll grab them later in the week. Friday rolls around and I haven't linked and have then forgotten. For Kyle, I will make a point to link to Betty's chapter this week. I agree with Kyle, it's one of Betty's sharpest and I think you have to be a close reader to grasp that though even a casual reader can enjoy it." (Betty says, "My head is spinning from the praise." :D)

"Kat's Korner: Lenny rocks for a Love Revolution" -- Kat's latest music review. Lenny Kravitz' It Is Time For A Love Revolution. Read it!!!

"Pot Head yes, Peace Man, no" -- Who knew Willie Nelson wanted a heavily armed border and didn't believe in war resistance personally? Marcia explains it.

Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "GOP Attack Machine" -- an instant classic from Isaiah and already one of his most popular ever.

"Lambert and the Cult" -- Elaine addresses the Cult of Obama (and notes right now, as she did in the post, that it's based on comments she and C.I. have been making to each other). She also reminds us of a truest so we need to write this quickly to get that in before everyone forgets and the edition's put to bed.

"Not a pretty girl" -- Kat touching on music, Hillary and women. A powerful post.

"I Hate The War" -- C.I.'s Thursday night entry, again, the most requested of the week.

"Lourdes Garcia-Navarro" -- Ruth explains why a report on NPR catches your attention.

"Life-Coaching Barack" & "THIS JUST IN! BACKSTAGE AT THE DEBATE!" -- Cedric and Wally take you backstage for the debate preparation in Camp Obama.

"Women always get ignored by Little Media," "Fadel and grab bag post," "Jeremy Scahill, Leila Fadel, Joshua Kors," "Creating silences" and "Iraq snapshot" -- Amy Goodman supposedly believes that more international coverage is needed. Amy Goodman allegedly gives a damn about Iraq. So why then, when doing a brief headline on the Polk Awards, did she manage to overlook the sole winner for foreign reporting? That was Leila Fadel of McClatchy Newspapers and the foreign reporting was done from Iraq. Goodman mentioned three men and Fadel's a woman so maybe that's why Fadel was overlooked?

"Oprah loves some published liars" -- Elaine reminds that the Big O says 'creativity' in non-fiction is bad when James Frey does it yet she doesn't object when Bambi does the same thing.

"Third, Susan UnPC, Lying Bambi and more" -- Mike offers a grab bag including explaining last week's edition of Third.

"fools (dave lindorff) & trash (eve ensler)" -- Rebecca offers the kind of straight talk John McCain gets credit for (and never offers).

"talking post" & "Isaiah, Susan UnPC" -- Holidays usually mean we all take off (except C.I.). On Presidents Day, Rebecca and Elaine both posted.

"Bambi caught stealing" & "THIS JUST IN! STEALING THE WORDS OUT OF YOUR MOUTH..." -- Cedric and Wally explain the 'borrower' Bambi.
