Hey --
Another Sunday and you don't know how we almost gave up this edition. First off, thanks to all who worked on this one:
The Third Estate Sunday Review's Jim, Dona, Ty, Jess, and Ava,
Rebecca of Sex and Politics and Screeds and Attitude,
Betty of Thomas Friedman Is a Great Man,
C.I. of The Common Ills and The Third Estate Sunday Review,
Kat of Kat's Korner (of The Common Ills),
Cedric of Cedric's Big Mix,
Mike of Mikey Likes It!,
Elaine of Like Maria Said Paz),
Ruth of Ruth's Report,
Wally of The Daily Jot,
Trina of Trina's Kitchen
Marcia of SICKOFITRDLZ,
Stan of Oh Boy It Never Ends,
Isaiah of The World Today Just Nuts,
and Ann of Ann's Mega Dub.
And Dallas. And here's what we came up with:
Trina was firm that this be truest. Good because we might have skipped the feature. We were tired and so not into this edition.
Gareth Porter was another truest. We actually could have done six truest. We spent little time debating, thankfully.
We were wiped out. Big thank yous to C.I., Ava, Jess and Betty who really pulled this together in the writing and in the editing.
This is Ava and C.I. weighing in on The Gates (airs on ABC tonight, last hour of prime time) and on other suckers who try to fool you.
Dona said, "Don't even ask." When I said, "Maybe . . ." She knew I was going to follow that with "Ava and C.I. could write a second piece." After she said, "Don't even ask," I went to Ty to see if he would do a "Ty's Corner." He was still pissed about Seeds of Peace. So I did a Jim's World.
A fast roundtable dealing with a number of topics.
The only thing from the pitch session that turned out as expected. (Four articles I championed bit the dust. They were awful and, in retrospect, they were awful topics.)
ETAN.
Short item alerting you to Lynne Stewart coverage.
And Mike, Elaine, Rebecca, Betty, Kat, Ruth, Marcia, Stan, Cedric, Wally and Ann wrote this and we thank them for it.
And that's what we managed. Somehow.
Peace.
