Hey --
Sunday and, amazingly, we're late. Okay, not so amazingly. Typically.
Along with Dallas, the following helped on this edition:
The Third Estate Sunday Review's Jim, Dona, Ty, Jess, and Ava,
Rebecca of Sex and Politics and Screeds and Attitude,
Betty of Thomas Friedman Is a Great Man,
C.I. of The Common Ills and The Third Estate Sunday Review,
Kat of Kat's Korner (of The Common Ills),
Cedric of Cedric's Big Mix,
Mike of Mikey Likes It!,
Elaine of Like Maria Said Paz),
Trina of Trina's Kitchen,
Ruth of Ruth's Report,
Wally of The Daily Jot,
Marcia of SICKOFITRDLZ,
Stan of Oh Boy It Never Ends,
Isaiah of The World Today Just Nuts,
and Ann of Ann's Mega Dub.
What did we come up with?
Justin Raimondo was the sure shot for the week. We knew that going in and, for the longest time, we thought there was only one truest.
Wally and Cedric brought this nomination in and it was too good not to make two Truests for the week.
Ruth deserves big time credit for pitching a Kagan editorial and for saying we needed to illustrate it not with Isaiah's Kagan comic from last Sunday but with his Kagan comic from a year ago.
Ava and C.I. had a lot to cover. As you will see. This is the hard hitting and lengthy piece and they're just saying, "Hold on!" They asked us to check the spelling on a name and we forgot. C.I.'s pulling this article back up now while Ava attempts to find the correct spelling. Namir Noor-Eldeen and Saeed Chmagh are the two names. I'm so smart. (No, I'm typing them as Ava spells them outloud to C.I. :D) So this is the lengthy piece which allowed us to slack off elsewhere.
Like here? Actually, Dona thought the talk between Betty, Ty, Stan and Marcia was so strong that it should be the roundtable but she wanted to be sure everyone had a chance to speak which is why she let it go on a little longer before giving the wind-it-down signal.
This was a short post. We were looking for photos online we could use -- meaning we were at Wikipedia. C.I. and Ava said if Kat were here she'd have a heart attack that we were using photos. "I can't draw!" I hollered back (Jim here). At which point, Isaiah said he could draw Woody Allen. He was less sure about Eliot Spitzer but willing to try. He drew this and Betty's kids added paint and Rebecca photoshopped. We thank them all.
Another Isaiah sketch with painting by Betty's kids and photo shopping by Rebecca. We thank them. This was originally part of Ava and C.I.'s piece. It got pulled by me and then we reworked it a little. It meant Ava and C.I. had to come up with a new ending at the last minute and for that I'm sorry. But if I hadn't pulled it out for this article, we'd still be trying to think up another feature.
Ty and Jess led on this. We thank them.
Mike, Elaine, Cedric and Ann worked on this and only this (Cedric also worked on truest -- Jess just corrected me) along with Ruth, Kat, Betty, Marcia, Stan, Isaiah and Wally. We thank them all.
That's all we got. Until next time.
Peace.
