Highlights

This piece is written by Rebecca of Sex and Politics and Screeds and Attitude, Cedric of Cedric's Big Mix, Kat of Kat's Korner, Betty of Thomas Friedman is a Great Man, Mike of Mikey Likes It!, Elaine of Like Maria Said Paz, Ruth of Ruth's Report, Marcia of SICKOFITRADLZ and Wally of The Daily Jot. Unless otherwise noted, we picked all highlights.

"Potato and Ham Casserole in the Kitchen" -- Trina's very important post. Trina says "give C.I. at least co-writing credit. I was using C.I.'s notes and I'm glad everyone liked the post that's e-mailed but wondering if I should have put 'I'm using C.I.'s notes' in bold print because I'm uncomfortable with the e-mails of praise which seem to credit me." She's writing about a Congressional hearing on homeless veterans last week. Be sure to read it.

"Chow down, Wide Load" -- Betty's latest chapter finds Betinna learning what a backstabber Cathy Pollitt is. This is one of those chapters that sets up a flip so pay attention.

"AOL Poll 67% doubt Barack's patriotism" -- Elaine was ahead of the curve. Later in the week (Elaine wrote Monday) this story got a bit of traction. What's the story? A significant number of Bambi's voters in Texas voted just for Bambi. They left the rest of the Democratic ballot blank. Elaine points to C.I.'s January 13th statements here that, if you looked at the polling data up to that point, you saw clearly that Hillary or John Edwards (who was still in the race here) helps the Democratic ticket because they are turning out the base -- turning it out in larger numbers than generally show up for a primary indicating excitement. But Bambi was depending on swing voters, independents and 'independents'. He's losing real independents and swing voters now. But even when he had them, that's not what the Democratic Party needs. Putting someone at the top of the ballot who cannot pull in the base risks all other offices Democrats are running for. C.I. pointed it out January 13th and the Texas votes demonstrated that. Bambi at the top means his groupies turn out to vote for him. They have no loyalty to others on the ticket. Not only will Bambi likely lose the White House in November, he will also likely hurt that Democratic Party in all the races if he gets the nomination. A cult isn't a political party. Also see her "Barack gets the nom, Dems take a dive."

Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "Message From a Heavy Weight" -- Isaiah takes on crack pot Donna Brazile. We have plans for a feature on her this week but we started late. At the last minute, Kat, Ava and C.I. had to change their arrival schedule for Saturday. They were flying back to California Saturday morning when they were asked to attend a private function and told that the super delegate in question was leaning towards Hillary and, with their help, it was believed the deal could be closed. (It was closed.) So they didn't get home until Saturday night late and Jim declared (ahead of time) that we'd start late due to their late arrival so they could get at least three hours sleep. We're writing this earlier than in the normal process with the hopes that we can get this posted and it will serve as a notice to the regular readers that stuff will be going up today. Ava and C.I. plan to take on the Goodmans' new book. In addition, they are doing a TV review. They weren't planning on the latter because they had nothing. It was a very busy week with the Congressional hearings (which C.I. covered in the snapshots) but they found a show and they watched it online to grab it after a friend called about it. (They're actually watching it right now while we're working on this.) We'll be covering the hearings in some form and we'll be covering some other stuff. All that's done thus far is the roundtable we just finished.

"Hillary on The Ellen Degeneres Show" -- Bambi insulted the LGBT community throughout the week. One candidate addressed the issues: Hillary. Marcia writes about Hillary's appearance on Ellen's show.

"Kristen Breitweiser, Isaiah, Third" & "bambi spits on the fallen of 9/11" -- Last week was not a good one for Bambi. It didn't end well. And, as Mike and Rebecca point out, it didn't start off that well with Bambi flaunting his ignorance of 9-11.

"Crazy Ruth Conniff" & "THIS JUST IN! RUTH CONNIFF EXPLAINS IT ALL!" -- How out of touch is Panhandle Media? Ruth Conniff thinks patriotism is passe. Maybe in her gated community.

"Ms. becomes 'Little Miss magazine'" -- Marcia notes Ms.' appalling silence on Hillary's breast cancer proposals.

"John Nichols writes in his diary" -- John Nichols made himself a joke. We used to like Nichols. But he used to have a little common sense. He's all up in Bambi's crack these days. Ruth explains more.

"Sexists for Bambi explored," "THIS JUST IN! SPECIAL STANDARDS IN THE CULT!" and "Hillary and Elton" -- Cedric, Wally and Kat explain how sexism flies online even with those mounting their high horses.

"Nichola Gutgold, Glen Thrush" -- Ruth explains why Nichola Gutgold was correct that Hillary knows how to speak to Pennsylvania voters.

"Randi Rhodes and Air America Radio part ways" -- Ruth explains why Randi had to go.

"Stevie Nicks, etc." -- Kat offers a variety of news including the fill-ins for her when she goes to Ireland this month. That was supposed to be addressed in the roundtable but was one of the things that time limits meant had to be ditched.

"Barack hates Small Towns in America!" -- Mike tackles the latest insult from Bambi in Bami's non-stop insulting of America and also Mike takes on Donna Brazile who gives bad e-mail.

"Other Items (and the press demonstrates how little breast cancer matters to them)" -- Most requested entry by C.I. It was outrageous how the working press refused to cover the breast cancer proposal.

"Iraq snapshot," "Iraq snapshot" and "Iraq snapshot" -- C.I. covers the Congressional hearings -- Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. You heard that right. As Elaine points out, the laughable Spencer Ackerman crawled on the cross for all his 'suffering' in covering the hearings live but somehow didn't know that the Secretary of Defense (to name but one person) was testifying on Thursday. He missed that one, didn't he. Just like he missed Hillary's questioning on Tuesday.
