Highlights

This piece is written by Rebecca of Sex and Politics and Screeds and Attitude, Betty of Thomas Friedman Is a Great Man, Kat of Kat's Korner (of The Common Ills), Cedric of Cedric's Big Mix, Mike of Mikey Likes It!, Elaine of Like Maria Said Paz, and Wally of The Daily Jot and all highlights selected by us unless otherwise noted.

"Green Beans in the Kitchen" -- Trina's latest post offers a recipe (with canned green beans), explains how to cook fresh green beans, addresses a wackjob, addresses why no one in the community is working too hard on sending out replies to e-mails, talks Kucinich and more.

"Loonier than Friedman" -- Betinna is in search of Nicky K and ends up meeting a man who impersonates her husband (Thomas Friedman) when he's doing his drag act.

"Why did Wikpedia vanish the al-Maliki's exile?" -- This post by Mike was reposted at uruknet.info. It explains why Crapapedia remains Crapapedia.

"Bully Boy wins the Liar! Liar! competition again," "THIS JUST IN! BULLY BOY CAN'T STOP LYING!" and "More lies from the Bully Boy" -- a joint-post by Cedric, Wally and C.I. where they analyze the Bully Boy's latest speech. Cedric had already said he and Wally would grab the speech and that was why (this follows Bully Boy's lies about Vietnam speech). They got the opening worked out but weren't sure what next and decided to bring in C.I.

"katrina vanden heuvel, still wetting herself" -- Rebecca explains just how crappy (pissy?) KvH is and also notes how this site helped out FAIR last week. We're not waiting for the thank you on that but then Jess isn't waiting on the apology he's owed either.

"News on OpEd" -- Kat explains the change to come, yes, it will.

"He Couldn't Turn The World On With His Smile" -- Isaiah took Sunday off when he realized late Saturday that he was out of drawing paper. Isaiah's latest went up Monday and C.I. had included one of his older comics in an entry on Monday. Then came the news that Alberto Gonzales was stepping down. C.I. pulled together Isaiah's three comics dealing with Alberto for this bonus entry. (Which we'd like to repost in full today if time permits.)

Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "Bully Boy Funds Terrorists" -- Who's funding the 'terrorists'? The US. But don't worry, Isaiah has Bully Boy explaining that we're paying them over there so we won't have to pay them here.

"Yes, the military tries to hunt down those who go AWOL and desert" -- This is actually from two Saturdays ago but Marcia and two Third readers (Marcia's a community member) e-mailed Ty to ask, "Exactly why the hell didn't this get noted last week?" Just as we usually rush on this and forget about Isaiah's comic, we usually rush and forget about C.I.'s Saturday entries. It was our oversight. It is an important topic.

"Larry Craig's 'wide stance'" & "THIS JUST IN! WATCH THAT 'WIDE STANCE' IN AIRPORT BATHROOMS!" -- Cedric and Wally explaining what's what on the topic that became 'big news' all last week.

"The for-show meeting meant nothing" -- Yes, we knew immediately what War Hawk the 'left' tries to applaud that Elaine was talking about the minute we read her post. We think she says it beautifully.

Since this will post first, we'll also note that things will go up as they are edited today. We are moving a little slower this edition, mainly because time was wasted in trying to get to a non-event (there's a feature ready there) and so you'll see things go up slowly but there should be something posted every hour. When we finish this, we're done (see names at the top). All pieces have been written except Ava and C.I.'s TV commentary. They'll be writing that when the editing starts on the pieces (right now, Ava, Jess, C.I., Dona, Ty and Jim are busying typing up the articles written). We have a vague idea of what Ava and C.I. plan to tackle but we'll be logging on this evening to read it. Hope everyone takes some time to enjoy Labor Day. Shout outs to everyone who showed for the last minute Dallas Party. We rocked even if Fort Worth can't find their ass with both hands.
