Highlights

This piece is written by Rebecca of Sex and Politics and Screeds and Attitude, Cedric of Cedric's Big Mix, Kat of Kat's Korner, Betty of Thomas Friedman is a Great Man, Mike of Mikey Likes It!, Elaine of Like Maria Said Paz and Wally of The Daily Jot. Unless otherwise noted, we picked all highlights.

"The 'girl' Cathy Pollitt" -- Cathy Pollitt lives. As Betty notes, Pollitt slimed Gloria. Cathy's going to be front and center in the online novel of globalization and War Hawks. Yea!

"Basic in the Kitchen" -- a highly popular post by Trina. Read it and you'll see why. She's addressing some kitchen basics as well the illegal war.

"ugly katha pollitt sticks up for her 'mommy'" -- Rebecca provides a primer on the second-wave of feminism and explains why Katha Pollitt is a useless vanity-project and not a part of any movement. "Except to stick up for Mommy Betty," adds Elaine.

"The Women Who Lie" -- Elaine on liars. They really are and, like C.I., we've told Elaine if the crap CounterPunch posted last week makes her decide to delink, we'll all delink. I.R.'s 'feminist' rant was especially offensive -- as well as factually challenged. Want to talk about Jason Leopold, again Cockburn? And how 'those websites' have no standards? Where was the fact check on I.R.'s piece, huh? And, for the record, CounterPunch ran Leopold's articles as well though Cockburn forgot that when it was time to tsk-tsk about Truthout's standards. We're all really pissed by both articles sliming Steinem.

"I Hate The War" -- There was no poll on changing the Thurday night entry and everyone, according to Ava, was more than willing to accept the fact that C.I. couldn't do two "And the war drags on" entries a week. But the change has really resulted in something more than acceptance and it's probably currently the most popular entry C.I. does all week.

""Idiot of the Week" is . . ." -- It's a two-time winner! Mike's going to do "Idoit of the week" every Friday and notes he could probably do it every day and never be at a loss for idiiots.

"Bambi touches his inner Racist Reagan" & "THIS JUST IN! LOOK WHO GOT INTO BED WITH RONNIE!" -- Cedric and Wally address all the things Bambi forgot when he hopped into bed with Ronald Reagan. Barack, you should know your sexual partner's history. :D

"The Green Party debate," "Green Party 'debate'," "Iraq snapshot" & "Green Party, Taylor Marsh" -- Ruth, Kat, C.I. and Mike. Whether you liked the Green Party debate or not, it was addressed and covered in this community. It would have been covered in this edition but Jess wasn't able to participate in all features and, since he's a Green, we didn't think it was fair to do a feature on it when he couldn't be present. C.I. basically focuses on Iraq and plays it down the middle except for the candidate who, when asked to speak about Iraq for two minutes, couldn't speak about it for even one second. Ruth is probably most generous in her assessment with Kat and Mike coming down more critically.

"Democracy For Who! with your hosts Ava and C.I." -- a joint-entry. Kat was present for this. She tells us the backstory. It was day two and the e-mails hadn't stopped complaining about DN! Martha gave the report on them over the phone as they were all about to go grab lunch (they were on the road speaking out against the illegal war). "C.I. was sick and Ava hadn't heard from Jess, they were both pissed that they were having to use their lunch hour to address this. They weren't pissed at the community, but they were pissed that day two of DN!, Goodman had again clowned." Kat says all members were offended by Goodman's refusing to ask her guest (who co-wrote an article about Obama's homophobia in the current issue of The Progressive) about Obama's homophobia. Coming on the heels of Goodman's trash TV on Monday, it was the last straw. Kat said they talked a bit about how to approach the topic at lunch and had already decided it needed to be a joint-entry that morning (when Martha called with the complaints in the e-mails). They didn't know how to do it. They finally just said, "Screw it, let's start it and see where it goes." Where it went? As Degrassi High says, "We go there." :D They did. And it's hilarious. Be sure to read their TV commentary this week. It's on the same topic -- some of you saw it when it was accidentally posted around two this morning. It'll be back up (with no changes) shortly.

"amy goodman provides a forum for attacks," "Shame on you, Amy Goodman," "Amy Goodman reveals booking bias for DN!," "Aura Bogado and hustling the left," "Amy Goodman joins the Bambi campaign in tossing everyone under the bus," "Interviewing the anti-woman woman," "THIS JUST IN! MELISSA ON HER NEW BOOK!" and "Iraq snapshot" -- Did we just mention Goodman's trash TV Monday? You better believe it and everyone posting on Monday weighed in on that disgusting broadcast. The community sticks together.

"Relaxing" -- Kat doing a talking post after a long, long week.

"THIS JUST IN! TOUGH TIMES FOR BAMBI!" & "Bambi supporter reveals blow job" -- How trashy has the campaign become? Or is it just how trashy Bambi supporters are? His preacher decides to make a sex 'joke' from the pulpit. In church. Trashy. And, by the way, he apparently doesn't know much about sex. Wally and Cedric explain it for him.
