Bob Somerby has yet another wet dream
Bob Somerby's wet dreams have always focused on men.
These days, he's drooling over Mike Morell.
Who?
Bobby gasps:
Who the heck is Mike Morell? During the Obama years, he served as deputy director of the CIA. He also served as acting director on two occasions, first in 2011, then again from 2012 through 2013.
And no, he isn't a right-wing hack. The leading authority on his life offers some basic background:
In an August 2016 op-ed for The New York Times, Morell endorsed Hillary Clinton for president. Stating that he was registered with neither the Democratic nor Republican parties, and had always been silent about his political preferences, Morell stated that Donald Trump was "not only unqualified for the job, but he may well pose a threat to our national security." Morell left his job as a CBS News analyst before making the endorsement."In December 2016, Morell suggested the interference of Russia in the 2016 United States presidential election was 'the political equivalent of 9/11,' " the leading authority goes on to say. "He added that President Obama should retaliate imminently, in spite of president-elect Donald Trump's doubts about the allegations of Russian influence."
Morell is an experienced intelligence officer. Last summer, he endorsed Candidate Clinton while trashing Candidate Trump.
Is that who he is, Bobby?
Because Coleen Rowley knows a different Morell and explains who that is at INFORMATION CLEARING HOUSE:
I wanted to believe Director Mueller when he expressed some regret in our personal meeting the night before we both testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee. He told me he was seeking improvements and that I should not hesitate to contact him if I ever witnessed a similar situation to what was behind the FBI’s pre 9/11 failures.
A few months later, when it appeared he was acceding to Bush-Cheney’s ginning up intelligence to launch the unjustified, counterproductive and illegal war on Iraq, I took Mueller up on his offer, emailing him my concerns in late February 2003. Mueller knew, for instance, that Vice President Dick Cheney’s claims connecting 9/11 to Iraq were bogus yet he remained quiet. He also never responded to my email.
Beyond ignoring politicized intelligence, Mueller bent to other political pressures. In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, Mueller directed the “post 9/11 round-up” of about 1,000 immigrants who mostly happened to be in the wrong place (the New York City area) at the wrong time. FBI Headquarters encouraged more and more detentions for what seemed to be essentially P.R. purposes. Field offices were required to report daily the number of detentions in order to supply grist for FBI press releases about FBI “progress” in fighting terrorism. Consequently, some of the detainees were brutalized and jailed for up to a year despite the fact that none turned out to be terrorists.
Long before he became FBI Director, serious questions existed about Mueller’s role as Acting U.S. Attorney in Boston in effectively enabling decades of corruption and covering up of the FBI’s illicit deals with mobster Whitey Bulger and other “top echelon” informants who committed numerous murders and crimes. When the truth was finally uncovered through intrepid investigative reporting and persistent, honest judges, U.S. taxpayers footed a $100 million court award to the four men framed for murders committed by (the FBI-operated) Bulger gang.
Current media applause omits the fact that former FBI Director Mueller was the top official in charge of the Anthrax terror fiasco investigation into those 2001 murders, which targeted an innocent man (Steven Hatfill) whose lawsuit eventually forced the FBI to pay $5 million in compensation. Mueller’s FBI was also severely criticized by Department of Justice Inspector Generals finding the FBI overstepped the law improperly serving hundreds of thousands of “national security letters” to obtain private (and irrelevant) metadata on citizens, and for infiltrating nonviolent anti-war groups under the guise of investigating “terrorism.”
She has a great deal more to say -- none of which will help Bobby shoot his wad. But, hey, he saw Morrel on TV talking to Charlie Rose and that's what really matters, right?
Death threats?

Drama queen and hacktress Kathy Griffin crossed a line earlier this week.
We ignored it.
We had other things to talk about and cover.
But we're commenting now.
She held a press conference blaming everyone but herself.
We don't give a damn whether she got paid for the photo shoot or not.
Nor are we surprised that the failed actress did not get paid for it.
We were surprised by the photos -- all those lines around her lips and chin.
How bad is it?
If they remake RAWHIDE, she should audition, she should really go for it.
Her face, like her career, is a train wreck.
But there she was, drawing attention to it at the press conference as she cried and boo-hooed.
She is the one who, earlier this week, held up a bloody mask of a sitting president.
She thought that was funny.
People disagreed.
She apologized.
And then today she whined like a little brat.
Today, she and her attorney wanted the world to know that Barron Trump (an 11-year-old child) was "allegedly" upset by her actions.
"Allegedly," her attorney Lisa Bloom insisted.
Okay, you've already traumatized a child and now you want to debate it?
You weren't sincere in your apology.
You crossed a line and now you're paying for it.
GRAB A CLUE, the bulk of the Democratic celebs have repeatedly been crossing the line.
Not the left.
On the left, we focus on issues.
But cry babies who can't get over the election think the thing to do is to antagonize half the country.
And they each try to push it further and further.
Kathy is to blame for what she did.
No one else.
And this time, she went so far out with her hatred that it went beyond Donald Trump supporters.
Jake Tapper (CNN) called her out. CNN dropped her as their co-host on New Year's Eve.
Those are the breaks, Kathy.
Stop being a baby and own what you did.
She can't so she invents this conspiracy of White men out to get her.
That's not accountability.
She is not being persecuted.
She is getting a response she courted.
She was not being 'political.'
She even went beyond partisan.
She offended a lot of people.
That's on her.
And to now try to cast doubt on an 11-year-old boy?
Yes, we know, she insists that Donald Trump lies about everything so he may be lying about his son being traumatized.
If there's even a chance that you're ugly 'joke' upset an 11-year-old kid, leave him the hell out of your attempts to justify your actions.
And as for the death threats she says she's receiving?
Maybe they're jokes -- you know, the way she says holding up a bloody head that looked like Donald Trump's was just a joke.
She needs to own what she did.

Truest statement of the week
The Democrats, eager members of the war party, are constantly
ratcheting up propaganda of their own. Some members of the Congressional
Black Caucus have eagerly played their part. Representative Al Green of
Texas was the first to make a call for impeachment
from the floor of the House of Representatives. If Green can call for
Trump’s impeachment he ought to lead the fight against Republican voter
suppression. That tactic has deprived thousands of black Americans of
the franchise and probably led to Hillary Clinton’s loss in key states.
Green and his CBC colleagues don’t think that particular aspect of the
Trump victory is worthy of discussion. They have been reduced to party
hacks who take direction from their corrupt superiors. They are equally
complicit in the Democratic Party’s subterfuge and make a mockery of
black voters’ near unanimous support.
In any case, the cry for impeachment is a bait and switch for the Democrats. They would prefer to have Trump to kick around and run against in 2018 and 2020. A hamstrung president is far more useful to them than an establishment figure like Mike Pence. Pence would deflate the shallow so-called resistance movement largely because he isn’t Donald Trump. Democratic wannabe revolutionaries would then go back to sleep without a bogeyman to keep them frightened. Using Trump as a punching bag is the only option that allows them to end their string of electoral failures.

Hillary Clinton may never win the presidency, but she has won the battle
over U.S. imperial policy in Syria. The U.S. will soon begin laying
political-military trip-wires at strategic “no-go” points around Syria,
to create space for Washington’s Islamic jihadist foot soldiers.
Hillary’s style of warring diplomacy requires that targeted nations
react to U.S. aggressions in prescribed ways: the Russians are supposed
to blink in the presence of a real superpower; the Syrians must accept
the loss of their territorial integrity and sovereignty; and the
Iranians are required to surrender or become the next inferno.
Otherwise, “We came, we saw – everybody died.”
