Highlights

This piece is written by Rebecca of Sex and Politics and Screeds and Attitude, Cedric of Cedric's Big Mix, Kat of Kat's Korner, Betty of Thomas Friedman is a Great Man, Mike of Mikey Likes It!, Elaine of Like Maria Said Paz, Ruth of Ruth's Report (with us in spirit), Marcia of SICKOFITRADLZ, Stan of Oh Boy It Never Ends and Wally of The Daily Jot. Unless otherwise noted, we picked all highlights.

"I Hate The War" -- The most requested highlight of the week was this entry by C.I.

"Dave Zirin and Aimee Allison lie but it's 'okay' it's Palin" -- the second most requested highlight by readers of this site was Mike's post.

"Sandra Bullock's Proposal to pass $150 million mark" -- and at number three, C.I.'s entry.

"Lou Dobbs doesn't need to be fired" -- Trina stating what should be obvious but the left's been invaded with right wingers.

Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "Full On Federline" -- the latest hilarious comic from Isaiah.

"Zesty Potatoes in the Kitchen" -- Trina addresses the economy and provides an easy recipe.

"Sick of KPFA's racism and especially Krish Welch" -- Betty notices how KPFA screams racisim . .. while practicing it.

"Clouds," "The artist's model Barry," "These are leaders?," "Single-payer all the way" and "The end of the honeymoon" -- Ann's latest posts. Ty said an e-mail came in asking how long we intended to note Ann's posts -- all of them? Probably through Labor Day. She just started her site and we're making sure everyone's aware of it.

"california and gordo," "hard lessons for vactioning gordo," "late, bob somerby says goodbye to reaching out, et...," "gordo and his fortnight" and "mommy talk" -- And we usually highlight all of Rebecca's posts because she's covering Gordon Brown; however, community member Lynn e-mailed to tell Ty that we better not ignore "mommy talk" unless we wanted to be seen as anti-parent. :D For Lynn, we're including all of Rebecca's posts from last week.

"US forces caught the barber!" -- Isaiah dips into the archives to remember the week when the big news was that US forces had caught Osama . . . bin Laden's barber.

"NPR covers Iraq . . . via AP" & "Connect those dots" -- Ruth offers two looks at public radio, both are scary.

"Be Who You Are" -- Marcia is right, it's really that simple.

"Evelyn Sanchez loves Barry more than immigrants" -- Like Kat, we're getting real damn sick of supposed immigration rights activists who feel their first loyalty is to Barack. Did we miss something there or is Barack an immigrant?

"John Hughes films" & "John Hughes" -- Stan covers the passing of director John Hughes and his films.

"Human beings are not astroturf" -- a basic point that many forgot last week.

"He needs the roar of the crowd" & "THIS JUST IN! NEEDY STARLET!" -- The polls dip for Barry O and he panics!!!!

"Iraq snapshot" and "Senate Democratic Policy Committee" -- C.I. and Kat cover a hearing into contractors.

"The disappointments" -- if you set yourself up as a role model, Marcia points out you should conduct yourself as one.

"Earl Ofari Hutichnson stops trimming ass hair to issue statement" & "THIS JUST IN! EARL OFARI HUTICHNSON HAS NO LIFE!" -- It takes a coward to falsely scream racism.

"What do you believe in?" -- Elaine's quick post with important questions.

"Almost the weekend" -- Mike offers a grab bag including addressing John Edwards.
