Isakson, Tester Invite Senate Community to Participate in ‘Toys for Tots’ Drive
Resolution authorizing U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots collection passes Senate
WASHINGTON –
U.S. Senators Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., and Jon Tester, D-Mont., chairman
and ranking member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, today
announced this year’s Toys for Tots drive being held in coordination
with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to collect toys for children in need.
The
Senate unanimously passed a resolution introduced by Isakson and Tester
allowing for the collection of charitable donations in Senate buildings
during the holiday season. Senate offices are invited to collect
donated toys in designated collection bins until Dec. 4, 2019. A
collection bin will also be located outside of the Senate Committee on
Veterans’ Affairs in Russell 412.
“I
thank my Senate colleagues for allowing this special tradition to
continue here in support of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for
Tots charity drive for children at the holidays,” said Isakson. “Senator Tester and I encourage continued support for this outreach opportunity.”
“It
is an honor to continue the tradition of the Toys for Tots charity
drive with the United States Marine Corps Reserve and Chairman
Isakson,” said Tester. “This
annual drive is a special opportunity for our Senate colleagues to
participate in a worthy cause, bringing joy to deserving children and
families around the holidays.”
Toys
for Tots is an annual program conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps
Reserve to collect toys for disadvantaged children for the holiday
season. Isakson and Tester introduced a resolution authorizing the
donation drive that passed the Senate unanimously Tuesday, Nov. 12.
