Highlights

This piece is written by Rebecca of Sex and Politics and Screeds and Attitude, Cedric of Cedric's Big Mix, Kat of Kat's Korner, Betty of Thomas Friedman is a Great Man, Mike of Mikey Likes It!, Elaine of Like Maria Said Paz, Ruth of Ruth's Report, Marcia of SICKOFITRADLZ, Stan of Oh Boy It Never Ends, Ann of Ann's Mega Dub. and Wally of The Daily Jot. Unless otherwise noted, we picked all highlights.

"I Hate The War" -- most requested highlight of the week by readers of this site.

"Iraq snapshot" and "Democratic Policy Committee," "Iraq snapshot" and "Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee," "Iraq snapshot" and "Commission on Wartime Contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan" -- C.I. and Kat report on Congressional hearings and Wartime Contracting hearings.

Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "Photo-Op This!" -- Barack works it in Isaiah's latest comic.

"ObamaGiveAway" and "Corzine goes down for the count" -- Betty and Mike on state of the Democratic Party.

"Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose" and "Equality" -- Ruth and Marcia the day after Maine decided to embrace homophobia.

"Animation domination" -- Betty's much loved post (fourth requested highlight at this site -- after C.I.'s "I Hate The War" and Betty and Mike on state of the Democratic Party) is so good we're considering doing another American Dad feature this edition after we meet back up with the gang to find out what's making the cut and what's not (of what's written already). What's written already? Two features we think we'll go into this edition are on comic books and books. We could be wrong but that's the two we'd bet money on. Otherwise? Dona and Jim are asking Ava and C.I. if they can do a second feature -- which is good news for readers but bad news for us because it means that there's not a lot that's coming on strong. Elaine just pointed out that the Corzine feature will run. So that's three. And she points out that we don't have an editorial so if it's not working or everyone's really tired, that will probably be redone to make it an editorial. We still have to do the Iraq feature. [Jim note, "Elaine's correct those will be strong pieces. But we're shelving them until next week: books and comics. And she's correct about redoing the feature on Corzine into an editorial."]

"Debra Winger" and "Movies that don't hold up" -- Friday movie posts from Ann and Stan.

"Do we ever learn?" -- It's a basic question but one that required asking.

"THIS JUST IN! GREEN EYED BARRY!" and "Jealousy flares up in the White House" -- Not everyone was thrilled with the HBO movie!!!

"The silence from the (co-opted) 'leaders'" and "Why does Dissident Voice foster misogyny?" -- as Rebecca points out, for someone who says she's sick of blogging and has nothing to offer, Elaine still manages to write some very must read posts.

"George Bush's lover." -- Isaiah dips into the archive for this 2006 comic featuring Bully Boy Bush and Osama bin Laden.

"Garden omlette in the Kitchen" -- Trina offers the simplified omlette recipe and talks about the economy.

"the pap smear mike papantonio"-- long after it's known that the White House was objecting to the proposal by Senator Al Franken, Pap Smear shows up to attack Republicans for their vote but somehow forgets the White House. We're so damn sick of the hypocrisy -- but, hey, hypocrisy? Isn't Pap Smear still law partners with Joe Scarborough?

"E-mails"-- Trina talks about e-mails and, on that, let us point out that all of us writing this piece are getting those ten to twelve e-mails from the same group Trina's writing about -- 10 to 12 a day. It's too much. We don't have the time and we're not going to be highlighting them. Sorry. You're just bombarding us with e-mails over and over Sunday through Saturday. 84 e-mails a week would be too much from a lover so it's way too much from a stranger. Sorry. We agree with Trina and will be marking you as spam in our e-mail accounts.

"sunsara taylor" -- Rebecca writes about the attempts to censor Sunsara Taylor.

"Fort Hood shooting" and "Time of death?" -- Two from Ruth. On the first, we think she captured a nation's feeling in that post. On the second? Is Obama attempting to shut down the internet? That's what's supposedly being hammered out internationally. A number of us will be participating in a roundtable on this topic in next week's Polly's Brew (two Saturdays from now) but none of us feel we can yet weigh in on the issue with anymore than has already been online elsewhere.

"THIS JUST IN! HE ACHIEVES SOMETHING!" & "Barry's accomplishments" -- Wally and Cedric on Barry O's first record breaking achievement!

"Economy and music" -- a mix bag post from Mike. With a topic we'd love to cover here but may not have the time to.

"Greenpeace, 40 years old" -- We liked this but actually prefered another post of Ann's last week, however, some readers of this site e-mailed asking that we be sure to include this. We're not sure whether it's the music angle or the Greenpeace angle that made it so popular. Then again, it could just be Ann's fine writing.

"Stupid people at wowOwow" -- as Elaine said, "Marcia tackled an issue we all want to address. Is there any way to raise the IQ to 'standard' at wowOwow?"
